Humanism is a philosophy that’s all about valuing human reason, ethics, and compassion over religious beliefs or divine authority. It's about embracing the potential and dignity of people, promoting things like equality, freedom, and justice and recognizing our place within the natural world.

Both celebrants and registrars conduct secular, legally binding weddings. Registrars can only conduct weddings in approved civic venues, and the ceremonies typically follow a standardized format with limited opportunities for personalisation. Humanist celebrants like me can marry you almost anywhere in Northern Ireland, and we have much more flexibility when it comes to creating your bespoke ceremony exactly as you’ve dreamed it.

There are no prerequisites for having a humanist wedding! You don’t have to be part of a recognised society or do any kind of pre wedding course. A humanist wedding is for you if you are open minded people who value equality and want to celebrate your love in a non religious setting.

With pleasure! I jump at the chance to celebrate every love story. Inclusivity is at the heart of what I do and it’s important to me that I create an open and welcoming space for you, however you identify. There is no box to fit into with a humanist ceremony - your ceremony is a beautiful opportunity to celebrate you.
-
I can conduct your legal humanist wedding ceremony almost anywhere in Northern Ireland! The only exceptions are some civic spaces and religious buildings. And if you’re based outside of NI, I’m more than happy to travel to conduct your one of a kind commitment ceremony or vow renewal for you!
-
Humanist ceremonies have inclusivity at the very heart, and are a time for celebration and joy! In my ceremonies, the focus is on you and your story, and a part of that is recognizing the important role those closest to you play in supporting you on the next step of your journey. As your celebrant, I’m responsible for creating the warm and welcoming atmosphere that will make everyone present feel relaxed and involved, whatever their background or beliefs.
-
Yes! Northern Ireland is an increasingly popular destination for couples, with its rich history and beautiful, varied landscape. Humanist weddings conducted in NI are recognised everywhere.

This is more than okay, and a very exciting prospect for me as your celebrant! I love to learn all about how love is celebrated all over the world. I can craft your ceremony to reflect your unique blend of cultures and I’d be delighted to include any rituals, languages and texts that speak to who you are.
